Trident recommends that all users be familiar with the administration of these equipment before usng it. On top of the featured components, not shown in the diagrams are the suction tubing.

Also to use these equipment, users will need to buy disposable suction catheters.  These are normally for single use unless instructed otherwise by the hospital or medical professional.

Suction apparatus are critical products for those unable to cough out their phlegm. Users are urged to heed the instruction to acquire this item for their patients if the clinician recommends it. There have been instances of fatalities due to the lack of timely intervention by this equipment, so ensure your suction machine is working properly and you have the suction catheters on standby at all times for patienst needing it.  

When using the equipment, ensure that the tubes and bottles are cleaned thoroughly immediately after each use and maintain good hygiene at all times.

Common problems faced with such equipment is

• cracked bottles that do not allow pressure build up
• incorrectly fitted bottle cover or tubes resulting in leaks and therefore no pressure build up
• faulty compressor which requires servicing
• not knowing how to acheive the pressure setting because the system is differemt from the hospital's
